Meet Erich Stolz

From factory floor
to boardroom.

And now, back beside the business owner.

My business education did not begin in a classroom or a boardroom. It began with a broom on a factory floor.

From there, I became a machine operator, a senior machine operator, and eventually moved into financial leadership, product management, company presidency, portfolio-company leadership, turnarounds and business transformations.

Over more than three decades, I have worked inside businesses from the smallest details of operations to the decisions made at the top.

I worked by day. I studied by night.

While building my career full-time, I pursued my formal education in the evenings. What I learned at night frequently went to work with me the next morning.

Eventually, that education would include an MBA, an MS in Engineering Management, and a BA in Accounting & Finance.

One taught me why. The other taught me how.

Together, they shaped the way I approach business today: understand the problem, establish what matters, make the decision, execute—and measure the result.

Every chair taught me something different.

  • On the factory floor, I learned that plans mean nothing unless people can execute them.
  • In finance, I learned that profit without cash can still put a company in serious trouble.
  • In product management, I learned that the customer—not the company—ultimately determines value.
  • As President, I learned that extraordinary results happen when customers, people, priorities, operations and financial discipline move in the same direction.
  • Through turnarounds and transformations, I learned that difficult problems rarely improve because someone writes another report.

Experience measured in results.

$12M → $74MOne business transformation
within five years

$884M measurable financial impact across 25+ companies.

55 jobs were at risk.

When I became President of a small process-equipment company, revenue had been stuck at approximately $12 million for five years. Profitability was near zero. Fifty-five jobs were at risk.

Working with a small leadership team, we established clear priorities, strengthened execution, focused on customers, and changed the trajectory of the company.

$12 million → $74 million within five years.

When the right people know where they are going, focus on what matters most, and execute with discipline, a business can become a very different company.

Then came the tough assignments.

That experience set the stage for executive responsibility involving three portfolio companies. From there, my career increasingly moved toward turnarounds, transformations and performance improvement.

Over the years, I worked through 25+ operating engagements in the United States and Western Europe. Different companies. Different industries. Different problems. But one principle remained remarkably consistent:

Better results begin with better decisions—and better execution.

Today, my focus is the business owner.

After decades of operating companies, I made a deliberate choice. I want to put that experience to work for owners and CEOs of established small and mid-sized businesses.

Because I understand the responsibility they carry. And when the difficult decisions arrive, there are moments when one person still has to make the final decision. That is why I believe so strongly in the Co-Pilot.

You make the final decision.

I will tell you what I see. I will ask difficult questions. I will help you evaluate alternatives and turn priorities into action. But I will never forget who is flying the airplane.

  • Constructive challenge
